Semester by the Application Instructions
Welcome! By starting your application for admission to Semester by the Bay, you’re taking your first step toward an amazing semester of hands-on-learning in one of the richest and most beautiful marine environments in the world.
Before you apply:
- Submit an application of interest
- Speak with a Semester by the Bay Advisor
- Speak with your academic advisor to:
- Determine your home institutions process for allowing students to enroll full time at another university
- Be aware of any impacts to your anticipated graduation timeline
- Speak with your institution’s financial aid office to:
- Know the process for requesting permission to use your enrollment at the University of Alaska to determine your enrollment status at your home institution for financial aid purposes (often called a consortium agreement)
- Understand how enrolling away will affect any scholarships you may have

Your application will not be considered complete until all documents have been received. Please put SBB APPLICATION MATERIALS in the email subject when submitting forms by email so we can ensure your materials are found and included.
Submit ALL of the following documents to SemesterbytheBay@alaska.edu:
- Application for Admission to Semester by the Bay (request form)
- Application for Admission to Kenai Peninsula College using ONE of the following options:
- Signed Registration form (request form)
- Biology Internship Faculty Agreement (Request form)
- Proof of personal health insurance
